The Dutchess County facility, Green Haven Correctional, located in Stormville, was placed on lockdown after the violent 24 hours on Wednesday, Oct.. 4, said Daniel Martuscello, Acting Commissioner of the State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
Martuscello said the facility will be locked down and undergo a full facility search, going from cell to cell.
While most of the violence has involved incarcerated against incarcerated, staff members have also been assaulted; including a corrections officer who suffered a broken nose and another cut by a weapon, the Commissioner said.
The search is ongoing and is expected to take several days.
Green Haven is a maximum security prison that houses adult males.
